Moïse Sidiropoulos, après avoir obtenu sa Maitrise en Sciences Economiques à l’Université Aristote de Thessalonique (Grèce) et effectué ses études de troisième cycle en tant que boursier du gouvernement français (Ministère des affaires étrangères), il a obtenu en 1990 son Doctorat d’État ès-Sciences Économiques à l’Université Louis Pasteur de Strasbourg et il a été nommé en 1991 en poste de Maître de Conférences à la Faculté des Sciences Economiques et de Gestion de l’Université de Strasbourg. Actuellement, il est Professeur de macroéconomie à la Faculté des Sciences Economiques et de Gestion de l’Université de Strasbourg.
En tant qu’enseignant-chercheur, il a enseigné la macroéconomie au sein de la Faculté des Sciences Economiques et de Gestion de l’Université de Strasbourg et il fait partie du BETA (Bureau d’Economie Théorique et Appliquée). Il a été aussi cofondateur et co-directeur de l’Observatoire de Politiques Economiques en Europe (en 1999) dans le cadre d’une collaboration des Universités de Strasbourg Louis Pasteur et Robert Schuman. En tant que vice-Doyen chargé des relations internationales, il a eu aussi la responsabilité du programme EUCOR (de la collaboration des Universités du Rhin supérieur) au sein de la Faculté des Sciences Economiques et de Gestion.
Il a enseigné comme Professeur invité aux Universités de Virginie aux Etats-Unis (en 1993 et en 1995) et l’Université Démocrite de Thrace en Grèce (en 2001 et 2002). Il a obtenu le titre du Professeur d’Analyse Macroéconomique à l’Université Aristote de Thessaloniki (Grèce) pendant la période de sa mise en disponibilité de l’Université de Strasbourg (2008-2010) et il a animé une équipe de recherche au sein du laboratoire LEAP (Laboratory of Economic Analysis and Policy) à l’Université Aristote de Thessaloniki.
Ses principales contributions portent, tant au plan théorique et qu’ au plan économétrique, sur les politiques macroéconomiques, la coordination de politiques monétaire et budgétaires en union monétaire, le design des institutions monétaires et budgétaires dans le cadre de l’union monétaire européenne, la crédibilité des politiques de stabilisation, le coût et la dynamique de la désinflation, l’indépendance et la transparence des banques centrales, les règles de conduite de la politique monétaire. Il a publié environ 50 articles dans des revues économiques internationales et françaises telles que : la Review of International Economics, Economic Modelling, The Manchester School Review, Open Economies Review, Bulletin of Economic Research, Research in Economics, International Economic Journal, International Journal of Finance and Economics, Applied Economics Letters, International Advances in Economic Research, Economie Appliquée.
Il a aussi publié une quarantaine d’articles de presse sur la politique économique dans la presse grecque et internationale (comme Die Zeit) et trois ouvrages (une en langue française et deux en langue grec). Il a participé activement au débat public pendant les dernières années (débats télévisés et en radio, articles de presse, conférences universitaires et conférences grand public) sur la crise au sein de l’Union Européenne et en Grèce. Il a soutenu avec d’autres collègues, en Grèce, la non-sortie de la Grèce de la zone euro afin de protéger le pays ainsi que la zone euro d’une crise systémique et d’un éclatement irréversible. Enfin, le 12 décembre 2012, il a été récipiendaire à titre symbolique (avec 19 autres personnalités européennes) du Prix Nobel de la Paix attribué à l’Union Européenne, le 10 Décembre 2012 en séance plénière du Parlement Européen (en présence du Président du Parlement Européen Martin Schulz et le Président de la Commission Européenne José Manuel Barroso).
Moise Sidiropoulos, takes his MA in Economics by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece). He completed his post-graduate studies in France as a Fellow of the French Government (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and he obtained in 1990 his Ph.D. in Economic Sciences at the University Louis Pasteur of Strasbourg. He was appointed in 1991 as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Management of the University of Strasbourg. Currently, he is a Professor of Macroeconomics at the Faculty of Economics and Management of the University of Strasbourg.
He taught macroeconomics at the Faculty of Economics and Management of the University of Strasbourg and is a member of the BETA (Laboratory of Theoretical and Applied Economics). He was also one of the two initiators and co-directors of the Observatory of Economic Policies in Europe (in 1999) in the framework of a collaboration of the Universities of Strasbourg Louis Pasteur and Robert Schuman. As Vice-Dean in charge of International Relations in the Faculty of Economics and Management, he was also responsible for the EUCOR program (Collaboration of the Universities of Rhine).
He has taught also as a visiting professor at the Universities of Virginia in the United States (1993 and 1995) and the Democritus University of Thrace in Greece (2001 and 2002). He obtained the title of Professor of Macroeconomic Analysis at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), during the period of his free of leaving from the University of Strasbourg (2008-2010). He led a research team within from the Laboratory of Economic Analysis and Policy (LEAP) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Its main contributions, in both theoretical and econometric level, are on the field of macroeconomic policies, the coordination of monetary and fiscal policies in monetary union, the design of monetary and fiscal institutions in the framework of the European Monetary Union, the credibility of stabilization policies, the cost and dynamics of disinflation, the independence and transparency of central banks, the rules of conduct of monetary policy. He has published about 50 articles in international and French economic journals such as: The Review of International Economics, Economic Modeling, The Manchester School Review, The Open Economies Review, The Bulletin of Economic Research, The International Journal of Economic Research, The International Journal of Economics Finance and Economics, Applied Economics Letters, International Advances in Economic Research, Applied Economics.
He has also published about forty press articles on economic policy in the Greek and international press (such as Die Zeit) and three books (one, in French and two in Greek). He has been actively involved in the public debate for the last few years (TV, radio debates, press articles, university lectures and general public conferences) on the crisis in the European Union and in Greece. He supported, with other colleagues in Greece, the non-exit of Greece from the euro zone in order to protect the country and the eurozone from a systemic crisis and an irreversible break-up. Finally, on December 12, 2012, he was a symbolic recipient (along with 19 other European personalities) of the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to the European Union on December 10, 2012 in plenary session of the European Parliament (in the presence of the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz and the President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso).
